Roles, permissions & review desks
Separate account roles, server roles, and collection access without granting more authority than intended.

Three separate layers

| Chronicle roles | Permissions assigned to synchronized Discord roles in one server. |
| Collection membership | Reader, author, or editor access to one Brewery collection. |
An approved Storyteller account is not automatically staff in every server. A Brewer cannot edit every collection. A Discord server role does not automatically grant site-wide Bot Staff authority.
Back to top ↑Assign server roles with the two-list controls
- Open Chronicle settings → Set up the Chronicle → Permissions & privacy.
- Expand the permission to configure. Select roles in the available list and move them to the assigned list using the controls between the lists.
- Assign Server Staff to the roles that should count as staff. Then assign the actual actions or settings areas they may manage.
- Inspect Permissions by Discord role to see the combined assignment.
- Preview and save. An explicitly empty assigned list revokes that delegated permission.
The server owner and Discord administrators retain Chronicle management access. Delegated settings access requires both the Server Staff designation and the relevant settings permission. A limited settings permission cannot be used to change permission assignments.

Review, XP, tracker, advancement, and Storyteller responsibilities include access needed to read the affected Chronicle sheets. Web and bot operations recheck their shared permissions; a visible link is not permission to bypass a restriction.

- Open The Brewery's review desk or the available Admin Workspace link.
- Choose an account application for Brewer or Storyteller access.
- Read the statement, then request changes, reject, or approve with a reason.
- Approval activates the requested flag. The applicant can see the decision and respond to requested changes.
Reviewers cannot approve their own applications. Account-role revocation retains authored content and historical records.

Use exact Chargen account usernames in the role form. Site superusers appoint the specialist administration and review roles. Another authorized administrator must change their own access; the form does not provide self-escalation.

The live installation routes Admin Workspace to the Brewery and account review desk. The AI Assistant Settings screen and assistant commands are disabled; they are not part of the current service.
