Set up a Chronicle

Invite the bot and link your identity

1. Invite the existing Chronicler application to the Discord server using its installation link. You need permission in Discord to install it.
2. For a manually generated invitation, select the bot and applications.commands scopes for the same application. The project operator manages the application credentials; server owners do not need the bot token.
3. Sign in to Chargen with the Discord account that owns or manages the server.
4. Use /chronicle-setup in that server, or open Chronicles and choose the new server. The bot synchronizes the server rather than asking you to claim it with a typed ID.

A Chronicle is the Discord server itself. Its identity remains the server ID even if the display name changes.

Complete required setup

1. Open Complete setup from the server's setup-required notice.
2. Enable the games and character types the server supports.
3. Assign the Discord role or roles that will review applications. Configure Server Staff and delegated permissions for the people who will manage the Chronicle.
4. Choose an Announcement Channel and a Review channel. The bot must be able to view and send messages in both.
5. Save the required sections and select Complete setup. Resolve any highlighted problems before trying again.

The setup page links you to the required controls. The Announcement and Review channels are mandatory. Dice and XP channels are optional for setup, but a Dice Channel must be configured before dice can be delivered.

A server that is not ready does not appear in the character-creation Chronicle selector. If a required channel is deleted or the bot loses access, setup can become incomplete again.

Configure dice delivery

1. Open Chronicle settings → Set up the Chronicle → Discord.
2. Choose the Dice Channel where results should appear.
3. In Discord, give Chronicler View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, and Read Message History in that channel.
4. Save the section, then start /dice to check the destination displayed before a roll.

The XP Channel can be selected in the same area. Its selection alone does not mean every XP action has a public notification adapter.

Before accepting applications

• Check Games & types, including the separate Ghoul control if you run Ghouls.
• Set permitted sources and homebrew, creation allowances, and game-specific options.
• Check who can review, award XP, update trackers, and manage each settings area.
• Keep staff decisions for applications and scene facts unless you deliberately enable a different policy.
• Use Rules & allowed content to inspect what your members can see.

Remove a Chronicle

The synchronized Discord server owner or authorized Bot Staff can use Delete Chronicle on its page. Read and submit the confirmation. Ordinary Discord administrator status alone does not grant this deletion action.

Deletion hides the Chronicle and its attached sheets, withdraws open applications, and disables progression-sharing consent. It leaves reusable bases and other servers' copies intact. It does not delete the Discord server or kick the bot. Synchronization will not silently recreate the removed Chronicle.
