Find a rule

Open Codex and select Vampire: The Masquerade or Werewolf: The Apocalypse.
Optionally filter by character type. Mortal is shared; Vampire, Ghoul, and Werewolf options remain tied to their supported game.
Browse the numbered sections in character-creation order, or use the compact search at the top right.
Open a category's Browse link for its full list. The few examples on the homepage are not the full category.

Many category cards show three randomly chosen entries. Refreshing can change the examples. Missing an entry from those examples does not mean it is absent from the database.

Read an entry

Use At a glance for the main facts and On this page to jump to a section.
Read the effect together with costs, rolls, resistance, duration, requirements, and related options when provided.
Follow linked entries rather than treating a parent description as the complete rule for every child option.
Inspect References for source titles, printed or PDF pages where recorded, and available links.
Open Entry information for the revision and automation status.

A record with Rules pending review or incomplete details is not a verified substitute for the missing mechanic. Absence from the catalog does not establish that an official option does not exist.

Topic	Organization
Creation	Identity; Attributes, Skills & Specialties; Advantages; Supernatural Abilities; Possessions; Social; Play & Grow.
Attributes and Skills	Physical, Social and Mental columns, with linked pages and rating explanations; specialties belong with their Skills.
Clans	Clan identity and background, Disciplines, Bane and variant information, and linked relevant material where recorded. Caitiff and Thin-Bloods are Clanless.
Generations	The homepage highlights playable starting bands. Browse Generations shows the complete list in descending order, with the separate Blood Potency reference.
Disciplines	Powers grouped by level, with related Rituals, Ceremonies or Alchemy linked where appropriate.
Advantages	Backgrounds retain related Merits and Flaws beneath them. Other Merits and Flaws are alphabetized; Loresheet benefits belong with their sheet.
Werewolf	Auspices, Tribes, Forms, Gifts, Rites, Caerns and Packs remain Werewolf material. Packs belong with the appropriate connections and group content.

Official, homebrew, and Chronicle availability

The entry identifies its game and origin. Official and homebrew material share the catalog but keep separate provenance. A homebrew release being public does not automatically make it legal in your Chronicle.

Use your Chronicle's Rules & allowed content for its policy. /codex searches the published material available through that Chronicle's rules selection. The website's general catalog can include choices your server does not allow.

Editing structured material

Authorized maintainers or homebrew authors open a draft they are permitted to edit.
Use its entry editor for name, summary, rules, background and scope. Use Edit structured details or the component controls for typed mechanics and relationships.
Keep requirements, costs, rolls, resistance, source locators, and parent/child references in the appropriate fields. Do not bury a required relationship only in prose.
Preview the readable entry and validate its linked data. Publish only through the permitted review route; public homebrew needs independent review.
To change a sealed release, create a new revision. Existing Chronicle selections remain pinned until deliberately updated.

Use The Brewery for homebrew drafting and release management. The low-level Codex editor is a specialist tool, not a way to bypass author permissions or public release review.

Write and cite responsibly

Write explanations and examples independently. Preserve necessary rule names, stat names, numerical facts, and dice notation, and cite the source and exact page or inspected article when available. Keep unsupported values explicit. Physical measurements need metric and US equivalents together.

When a directly inspected book conflicts with a wiki summary, record the discrepancy and follow the project's verified-source policy. A source citation does not authorize copying its expressive wording.
